Alleged Intruder Says He Kicked Door in After Hearing Screams: Montgomery Police

Police said Aurora man was "very intoxicated;" resident denies screaming.

An Aurora man who allegedly kicked in the door of a Montgomery home told police he did so after hearing screams from inside, Montgomery Police Chief Daniel Meyers told the Aurora Beacon.

William Kuchmek, 27, was allegedly drunk and walking alone at around 2:30 a.m. Monday when he said he heard a woman’s screams coming from a home in the 300 block of Montgomery Road, police said. Kuchmek claimed he banged on the front door and, when he got no response, kicked the door in, according to the Beacon.

According to Meyers, a woman who lives at the home said she was not screaming prior to the alleged home invasion.

Kuchmek, of the 1300 block of Watson in Aurora, is accused of entering the home through the front door before leaving out the back door. The residents told police they did not know Kuchmek.

“This is just the case of an intoxicated person at the wrong house,” Meyers told the Beacon, adding, “I’m not sure if he even knows where he was.” Police said Kuchmek’s blood alcohol level at the time of his arrest was .24 percent, three times the legal driving limit.
