Sledding at Fox Valley Park District Parks Appeals to Many Ages

Fox Valley Park District officials have rated their sled hills by degree of difficulty.

The Lincoln Park sled hill located at Russell Avenue and Lakewood Place in Aurora is great for beginners because of a gentle hill. The next most gentle is at McCullough Park at the Prisco Community Center parking lot, 150 W. Illinois Avenue. The hill at Waubonsie Lake Park, located at Montgomery and Kautz roads offers an intermediate experience. Sledders looking for the fastest and steepest sledding should check out the big hill on Fifth Avenue just west of Kautz Road in the Oakhurst Forest Preserve. The hill is maintained by the Forest Preserve District of Kane County.

Officials remind children to sled down the middle and then walk to the side for the return trip up the hill to avoid getting run over.
