Aurora Drug Dealer Gets Prison for Selling Cocaine Near Park

He was sentenced to six years.

AURORA, IL — A 44-year-old Aurora man was sentenced to prison for selling drugs near an Aurora park.

Michael A Turner, Sr., of the 0-100 block of North Ohio Street, was given six years in prison.

Turner was convicted June 15 of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a park, a class X felony, and unlawful delivery of a controlled substance, a class 1 felony, according to the Kane County State's Attorney's Office. Turner waived his right to a jury trial.

Kane County prosecutors said that the afternoon of July 17, 2014, Turner sold 4.8 grams of cocaine to another person in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 400 block of East Indian Trail. The park is within 1,000 feet of a park in the 1000 block of East Indian Trail.

According to Illinois law, Turner is eligible for day-for-day sentencing. He was given credit for 52 days served in the Kane County jail.
