Aurora Police Investigating Armed Robbery at Payday Loan Store

Two employees were tied up, threatened with gun, police said.

Aurora Police are investigating the armed robbery of a Near East side Payday Loan Store that occurred Tuesday night.

At about 8:10 p.m., officers responded to the business in the 900 block of E. New York St. and discovered that three suspects, all described as male blacks around 17 years old, 5’8” tall and 165 pounds, entered the business.

Police said one of the suspects, who was wearing a red and gray checkered sweatshirt, dark pants, and a red beanie hat, was armed with a handgun and announced the robbery. After the employees handed over an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspects tied up the two employees by their wrists in a small room in the back of the store and fled the scene. according to police. The two employees, a 23-year-old male and 25-year-old female, were not hurt, police said.

One of the other suspects was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with writing on it, dark pants and a dark-colored beanie hat. The third was wearing a black and gray hooded sweatshirt, dark pants and a dark-colored beanie hat, according to police.
