Prior to the alleged abuse, police said Moore attended an informal meet and greet with other residents at Centennial Hall, 1363 Prairie St. The victim was on her way to her dorm room when she joined other the residents in the residence hall’s lobby at around 1 a.m., according to police.

After spending an hour with the group, the 19-year-old victim decided to go to her dorm room, police said. Moore reportedly offered to walk her to her room. Once they reached it, Moore asked the victim if he could see inside the dorm room, police said.

The victim reportedly opened the door, allowing Moore inside, but remained in the hallway holding the door open. Moore remained in the room for a short time before suddenly picking the victim up, causing the door to close behind her, police said. Moore then allegedly sexually abused the teen, ”despite her telling him to stop and her attempts at freeing herself,” police said.

The alleged abuse was reported to Aurora University Campus Police at around noon Saturday. Campus police contacted the Aurora Police Department.

Aurora police took Moore into custody at around 6:30 p.m. on the Aurora University Campus Public Safety Department, located at 1408 Southlawn Place.

Moore appeared Sunday morning in bond court, where a judge set his bond at $40,000, police said.
