Part-Time Custodian
St. Timothy Lutheran Church

Position Type: Part-Time (20-25 hours/week)
Pay: $19.00-$21.00 per hour
About the Role
St. Timothy Lutheran Church is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Custodian to help care for our building and support the ministry life of our congregation. The Custodian works both independently and collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and contractors, playing a key role in supporting the day-to-day and seasonal needs of our church.
This is a ministry support position, and we value candidates who see caring for our space as an act of hospitality and service.
Schedule & Availability
- 20-25 hours per week, primarily weekday mornings
- Some weekend work required
- Flexibility needed to accommodate worship services, funerals, weddings, and special events
- Availability for on-call building emergencies
- Preferred candidates will live within a reasonable commute to the church
Responsibilities
General Cleaning & Upkeep
- General cleaning duties and seasonal deep cleaning
- Floor care and trash removal
- Reset of church spaces following weekend services and events
Maintenance & Repair
- Light plumbing, painting, and general repairs
- Changing air filters and light bulbs
- Maintenance of all restrooms
Event & Ministry Support
- Set up and take down of tables, chairs, and furniture
- Supervise and coordinate volunteers as needed
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Regular standing, bending, and walking
- Ability to climb ladders
- Ability to assist with the snow removal team
Qualifications
- Prior custodial or maintenance experience preferred
- Comfortable performing basic repairs and using common tools
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and service-minded
