Sheriff’s deputies responded to the Kendall County jail, where Niford, who was in IDOC custody, allegedly head-butted a correctional officer.

Police said he was charged with aggravated battery to a correctional employee.

According to IDOC, Niford is serving his sentence at the Western Illinois Correctional Center in Mount Sterling, Illinois. His projected parole date is February 2026.

Niford previously served time for an aggravated sex abuse conviction stemming from a 2007 incident in which he gave a 16-year-old girl alcohol, then assaulted her after she passed out, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

Niford is a registered sex offender and is categorized as a sexual predator.
