U.S. Rep. Foster Announces 2015 Congressional Art Competition for High School Students
High school students residing in the 11th Congressional District are invited to submit original artwork by April 15.

Congressman Bill Foster (IL-11th) is accepting submissions from the 11th Illinois Congressional District for the 2015 Congressional High School Art Competition.
The Artistic Discovery Contest is sponsored by members of the U.S. House of Representatives to recognize and encourage art and creativity in young people throughout the nation.
The winning entry will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year. The winner will receive two round-trip tickets to travel to Washington, D.C., in June for the exhibition opening.

Second and third runner up entries will be on display in Congressman Foster’s congressional office.
All artwork must be two-dimensional. Guidelines include:

- Each piece can be no larger than 28” x 28” x 4” , including the frame,
- If the winning piece is not framed, the artist will be required to frame the artwork within the sizing guidelines.
- Artwork cannot weigh more than 15 pounds.
- Each entry must be completely original and may not violate any U.S. copyright laws.
- Winning artwork will be on display in Washington for one year and will not be available to be returned to the winner during that period.
Accepted media for artwork are as follows:
- Paintings: oil, acrylics, watercolor, etc.
- Drawings: pastels, colored pencil, charcoal, ink, markers
- Collage
- Prints: lithographs, silk screen, block prints
- Mixed Media: use of more than two media such as pencil, ink, watercolor, etc.
- Computer-Generated Art
- Photography
All entries must be an original in concept, design and execution. Submissions must include the Student Information and Release Form, which can be found online at Congressman Foster’s website.
The Competition is open only to high school students who reside in the Illinois 11th Congressional District or who are eligible to attend public high school in that district.
The winning artist will be notified in early May for the exhibition opening in June.
Entries must be dropped off at Congressman Foster’s constituent offices by April 15 at 195 Springfield Ave, Suite 102, Joliet; and 2711 E. New York St., Suite 204, Aurora.
