The robbery occurred outside of the rental hall where the party was being held in the 600 block of North Lake Street. Around $3,300 in jewelry, cash and other items were allegedly taken from the men. They were not injured.

Hall was reportedly one of several men who showed up at the party and proceeded to cause trouble for the attendees, according to police. Shortly after the robbery, a disturbance occurred inside the hall which caused the attendees to run out of the building toward Illinois Avenue and across Lake Street. A fight then ensued on the east side of Lake and at least one shot was fired which struck Derrick Page, 23, of Plainfield, in the head. Page died the next day as a result of the gunshot wound.
