School District 308 high school students looking to earn some college credit will have their chance to learn more about the Dual Credit Program at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11 at Oswego East High School.
Dual credit allows high school students to earn both college and high school credit for specific courses taken at Oswego or Oswego East high schools. Dual credit courses are aligned with Waubonsee Community College curriculum.
All dual credit courses are guaranteed to transfer to Illinois state colleges and universities. Many private Illinois schools also accept the credit. The program allows students the opportunity to reduce the time and money they spend in college. It allows students to take credits with them and strengthen college applications by demonstrating their readiness for college.
More information will be available at the Wednesday evening event, as well as by talking with a high school counselor. To enroll in a dual credit course, a student must be at least 16 years old (unless a waiver is granted) and have met the qualifying COMPASS or ACT score.
