Lions in the Park’ benefit 5K fun run, walk set by Aurora Noon Lions Club May 18
A second annual 5K family fun run and walk, “Lions in the Park,” will be held by the Aurora Noon Lions Club at Phillips Park in Aurora on Sunday, May 18.

The public is invited. Lion Rick Robertson, race diretor, said the event will benefit Lions International vision- and hearing-conservation programs.

After registration at 7 a.m., the run and walk will get underway at 8 a.m. at East Aurora High School, 500 Tomcat Lane in Aurora.
Following a scenic course through Phillips Park, athletes will return to the finish line at East High.
Top adult and children athletes in several categories will win awards.
Fees are $25 for adults and $10 for children under 12. Advance online registration Is open at signmeup.com/99453 or by entering “Lions” in the event search page at signmeup.com.
Advance registrants will receive a T-shirt. Bottled water and other refreshments will be available.
The premiere run/walk was won by Saul Olivas of Aurora in 24:10.
About 40 runners, from youth to adults, competed.
In addition to Olivas, other award winners were: Sebastian Oros, Aurora, men's second place, 24:36; Brian Craft, Aurora, men's third place, 24:39; Lindsay Muth, Oswego, women's first place, 31:36; Thea Neumann, women's second place, 34:17; Sue Christoffel, women's third place, 36:05; Eder Olivas, Aurora, youth first place, 31:26; Makyla Kennedy, youth second place, 39:00; and Ezra Robertson, youth third place, 41:03.
Celebrating its 96th anniversary, the Aurora Noon Lions Club meets at noon on the first and third Mondays at Luigi's Pizza and Fun Center, 932 Prairie St. in Aurora.
