Officers spotted Labombarbe in the vehicle in the area of Plum and Iroquois Drive. They followed him to the 700 block of Charles Street where Labombarbe ditched his vehicle while it was still moving. He was caught after a short foot chase. The truck crashed into a tree.
Police also believe Labombarbe was responsible for the burglaries of four vehicles in a hotel parking lot in the 2400 block of Bushwood Drive, as well as the attempted theft of a vehicle in a daycare center parking lot in the 2400 block of West Sullivan Road. All of the alleged crimes occurred in the overnight and early morning hours of Nov. 5 and Nov. 6. Labombarbe was charged with these crimes the week after he was arrested when detectives watched surveillance video from the hotel and identified the person in the videos as Labombarbe.
Labombarbe was also connected to a Nov. 6 theft of a vehicle that was left running and unattended in front of a restaurant in the 1300 block of North Orchard.
In total, Labombarbe has been charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle, two felony counts of burglary to a motor vehicle, three misdemeanor counts of criminal trespass to a motor vehicle and one felony count of theft of a motor vehicle.
No one was injured during Labombarbe’s alleged crimes, but more than $700 in losses and damages were reported. Some keys and a tool were both recovered and appeared to be the only items stolen from the vehicles.
A judge has set Labombarbe’s bail at $115,000. He remains lodged in the Kane County Correctional Center in St. Charles.
