Kendall County Named Number One in Traffic Safety
The Kendall County Sheriff's Office took home first prize in the 2016/2017 Traffic Safety Challenge

KENDALL COUNTY, IL — The Kendall County Sheriff’s Office has been named number one when it comes to traffic safety. Earlier this month the department competed in Illinois Traffic Safety Challenge, a friendly competition between law enforcement departments across the state that focuses on improving practices for improving occupant protection and reducing speeding and impaired driving. Kendall County came in first in the Sheriff's Office division with 50 to 100 sworn officers.
The purpose of the competition is to promote traffic safety throughout Illinois, and reduce the number of traffic-related injuries. Departments are awarded after evaluation of their traffic safety enforcement initiatives, and their creation of departmental policies that support these safety campaigns. According to the competition's website, the contest serves as "a template for law enforcement agencies to identify traffic issues, plan strategies, reduce social harm and improve the quality of life in their communities."
The annual contest is put on by the Illinois Association or Chiefs of Police Traffic Committee and is partially sponsored through a grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation, Division of Transportation and Safety.
