Kendall County Woman Targeted in Fake Arrest Warrant Scam

Caller instructed victim to put $500 on a Green Dot card or risk jail.

A 53-year-old Yorkville woman was scammed out of $500 after receiving a bogus phone call claiming there were outstanding arrest warrants in her name, police said.

Kendall County Sheriff’s police said the victim told deputies that on Dec. 5, she got a call from someone claiming to be “Capt. David Allen” with the “Federal Warrants Division.” The caller told the woman she had two warrants for failing to show up to jury duty.

The victim said the man told her to purchase a Green Dot Money Pak in the amount of $500 and call him back when she obtained it.
