Man Accused of Groping Aurora Haunted House Employees

Basement of the Dead staff called police after man allegedly touched two female employees.

A New York man was charged with two counts of battery after allegedly groping two female employees at an Aurora haunted attraction, police said.

Ameet Kumar, 30, was arrested after staff at Basement of the Dead/Shattered, 28 W. New York St., called the police Sunday night.

Aurora police told the Beacon News that Kumar was arrested after allegedly touching the two women, ages 20 and 40. The 20-year-old victim told police she was working inside the haunted house when Kumar grabbed her buttocks several times. The second victim said Kumar inappropriately touched her as he left the building, according to police.

Basement of the Dead staff called police and were able to stop Kumar from leaving the haunted house until officers arrived, police told the Beacon. Both victims signed complaints against Kumar.

The arrest is a reversal of an alleged incident earlier month at a different area haunted house in which it was employees who were accused of inappropriately touching customers and making sexual comments. An Oswego mom is suing The Massacre Haunted House in Montgomery and two employees, saying they touched her teenage daughter with a sex toy and made inappropriate comments to the family.
