Man Hit by Car, Seriously Injured in Aurora
Man was crossing the street Wednesday morning when he was hit, police said.

An 82-year-old man was struck by a vehicle as he crossed New York Street at Kendall Street at around 7:25 a.m. Wednesday, Aurora police said.
Police said the elderly man, whose name was not released, apparently walked in front of a 1991 Chevrolet Caprice that was traveling westbound on New York Street, as he was crossing New York southbound from Kendall Street.
The driver of the car, a 24 year old Aurora man, tried to avoid hitting the older man by swerving to the left, but was unsuccessful, police said. The older man suffered critical injuries and is undergoing treatment at an Aurora hospital.

A citation for driving without proof of insurance is pending against the driver of the car, according to police.
The crash is being investigated by the Aurora Police Traffic Division.
