Man Hurt in Crash After Falling Asleep at Wheel: Police

The 70-year-old driver was taken to Rush-Copley Hospital after reporting chest pains, police said.

A 70-year-old Aurora man was hurt Monday afternoon after falling asleep behind the wheel in the 0-100 block of Winrock Road in unincorporated Montgomery, Kendall County Sheriff’s police said.

Police said the man was headed south on Winrock at about 2:35 p.m. when he fell asleep, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway, strike a tree and overturn.

The man, who was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, was taken to Rush-Copley Hospital in Aurora after complaining of chest pains, police said.
