Montgomery Blotter: Employee Swindles Store; Customer Carrying Counterfeit Cash

Destyne Totton, 19, of the 900 block of McClaran in Aurora was arrested by Montgomery police and charged with felony theft. Police said Totton, who was an employee of a retail business, was arrested after store officials saw Totton use a previous receipt from a customer, refund merchandise to himself and then place $500 onto a debit card.
A customer at a store in the 1200 block of Ogden Avenue tried to pass two counterfeit $50 bills for merchandise, police said. An employee determined the bills to be fake and refused to take them. Police spoke to the customer, who said he received the counterfeit currency from an employer.
