Police Blotter: Man Bilked of $45,000 in Wire Transfer Scam

Sara V. Ballis, 19, of the 0-100 block of Pembrook, Montgomery, was arrested at Walmart, 2300 Route 34, on a charge of retail theft, police said.

A Montgomery resident reported that he was the victim of a scam which resulted in him sending more than $45,000 via wire transfers, purportedly in exchange for receiving more than $5 million from an overseas estate, police said.

Police responded to Walmart, 2300 Route 34, after a subject allegedly attempted to return items he had stolen from the store, according to police reports. The incident is under investigation.
