Possible Snow, 'Wickedly Cold' Halloween in Store for Chicagoland

A chance of showers overnight and through Friday. Gusty winds, too, and a chance of Halloween snow.

The upcoming forecast from the National Weather Service suggests rain and possibly snow, as well as high winds and low temps. At the very least, those Halloween costumes may need to be covered by a coat.

WGN’s Tom Skilling predicted a “wickedly cold” Halloween, with showers, windy conditions and a high around 40 degrees for the Chicago area, with warmer temperatures not returning until after the weekend.

Thursday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers, mainly after 1 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 38. West wind 5 to 15 mph becoming north northwest after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph.

Friday: A chance of rain and snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 42. Windy, with a north wind 20 to 25 mph increasing to 25 to 30 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 45 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent.

Friday Night: A chance of rain and snow showers before 1 a.m., then a slight chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 33. Breezy, with a north wind 15 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.
