Residents Invited to Kifowit-Hosted Education Funding Forum
State Rep. Stephanie Kifowit

AURORA, Ill. – To inform area residents about proposed changes to the way Illinois funds elementary and secondary schools, state Rep. Stephanie Kifowit, D-Oswego, will be hosting a public forum with state Sen. Andy Manar, D-Bunker Hill, on Thursday, Feb. 24 at 6 p.m. in the Wheatland Elementary Gymnasium, located at 2290 Barrington Drive West, Aurora.
“I opposed Senate Bill 16 due to the concerns I had about funding cut to our children’s education and I remain opposed to any attempts to shift money away from our local schools,” Kifowit said. “As this proposal is debated in the Legislature, I want to give area educators and families the opportunity to be heard from. I encourage everyone to attend this forum to remain up-to-date about proposed changes and ensure that suburban school districts are represented in this ongoing discussion.”
Kifowit wants area families, school administrators and educators to be a part of a dialogue about how this evolving proposal may affect local school districts. She is inviting area superintendents, educators and concerned parents to attend the meeting to discuss with Manar how his proposal would affect their districts and to offer suggestions to the Senator. Kifowit will continue opposing any measure that takes away funds from local schools.
