Suspects Bind Employees' Wrists, Steal Cash in String of Armed Robberies: Cops

Police believe four armed robberies that occurred at businesses in North Aurora and Aurora Thursday night are related.

Police are investigating four armed robberies that occurred at area businesses within an hour of each other on Thursday night.

Police were called to Jun’s Mobile, 329 S. Lincolnway in North Aurora, at 8:33 p.m. on Oct. 30 for a report of the armed robbery, according to a North Aurora Police Department.

Police said three black male suspects entered the store while one of them displayed a chrome semi-automatic handgun and pointed it at the 20-year-old clerk. The men demanded cash and cigarettes and bound the clerk’s wrists.

The clerk was not injured. Police said the suspects could be responsible for other similar robberies in the area.

Three men entered a Payday Loan Store in the 900 block of East New York Street in Aurora at 8:10 p.m. on Oct. 30 and bound the wrists of the victims, a 23-year-old man and 25-year-old woman, according to the Aurora Beacon News. One of the men displayed a gun and demanded cash.

Another robbery occurred at the Auto Zone in the 1000 block of East Galena Boulevard in Aurora at 8:45 p.m. on Oct. 30, the newspaper reports. Three men entered the store, two of whom were armed, and bound the wrists of two employees and demanded cash from the third victim.

A similar robbery also occurred at the Marathon Gas Station in the 1700 block of North Farnsworth Avenue in Aurora at 9:10 p.m.

The suspects in the Jun’s Mobile robbery are described as:

  • Suspect 1: Black male who is about 5 feet, 11 inches tall with lean build. He has long dreadlocks and wearing a dark gray fleece.
  • Suspect 2: Black male who is about 6-feet, 1-inch tall with a lean build. He was wearing a gray vest and jacket and a gray/orange baseball cap.
  • Suspect 3: Black male who is about 5-feet, seven-inches tall with a husky build. He was wearing a gray or black and white coat and was armed with a handgun.

North Aurora Police are looking to speak to anyone who may have seen the suspects prior to the robbery who fleeing the scene.

The robberies remain under investigation.
