Three District 308 Seats Up for Election

Filing period starts Dec. 15.

Three of seven Community Unit School District 308 Board of Education seats are open in the April, 2015 consolidated elections.

Those seats belong to Board of Education President Bill Walsh, Vice President Alison Swanson, and board member Brent Lightfoot. Lightfoot and Walsh last week announced their re-election bids.

A recent change in election law makes this the first time school board candidates must file nominating paperwork with the county clerk’s office, instead of the district. Interested candidates can pick up a nomination packet at the Kendall County Clerk’s office at 111. W. Fox Road, Yorkville, Ill.

Candidates can circulate their nominating petitions, and must file them with the Kendall County Clerk’s office between Dec. 15 and 22. For more information on running for a vacant board of education seat, visit the school board elections page on the Illinois Association of School Boards website.
