Traffic Death of Elderly Man Medically Related: Aurora Police

Man died hours after single-vehicle crash.

The death of an 88-year-old Aurora man who was involved in a crash Thursday afternoon appears to be medically related, according to Aurora Police.

Ronald C. Walker of the 900 block of Walter Avenue, died Thursday night at an Aurora hospital, police said. He was involved in a single-car crash at around 4:15 p.m. at East Benton Street and South Broadway Avenue in the city’s downtown.

Witnesses said they saw Walker slumped over in the driver’s seat of his 2000 Honda Accord which rolled eastbound at a slow speed through the intersection against the red light, according to police. The vehicle jumped the curb at the southeast corner of the intersection and struck a retaining wall, causing the air bag to deploy. Only minor damage was observed to Walker’s car, police said.
