Traffic Stop Leads to Weapons Charges for Kendall County Man
Driver going 84 mph in a work zone had semiautomatic handgun, magazine in his car, police said.

A Montgomery man allegedly caught driving 84 mph in a 45 mph work zone was also charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon after Kendall County Sheriff’s police found a gun and ammunition in his vehicle, police said.
Zachary Held, 20, of the 770 block of Galena Road in Bristol was stopped for speeding on eastbound Route 30 west of Briarcliff Road in unincorporated Montgomery at around 8:16 p.m. Monday, police said.
During the traffic stop, police said deputies learned that Held was in possession of a .45 semiautomatic handgun cased and placed behind the center console. There was also a loaded firearm magazine in the vehicle’s glove box, according to police.

It was determined that Held was 20 years old and could not legally possess a handgun under the unlawful use of a firearm statute, police said.
