Two Men Attempted to Lure 12-Year-Old Girl in Aurora: Police

Two men in a red "beater"-type car approached the girl as she walked to school.

Aurora Police are investigating an incident in which two men attempted to lure a middle school student into a vehicle Friday morning.

Police said a female 12-year-old Jefferson Middle School student was approached at around 8 a.m. near the intersection of Illinois Avenue and Gladstone Street by two black males who attempted to lure her toward their vehicle.

The girl, who was on her was to school, immediately turned and ran to a nearby friend’s house to report the incident, police said.

The males were described as African-American men in their 30s riding in a red, older, four-door vehicle, described as being in “beater” condition, police said. The passenger was wearing a black T-shirt and had a mustache and goatee, according to police.

The passenger reportedly motioned and yelled for the girl to come over to the vehicle as it pulled up alongside her. The vehicle is believed to have been in the area prior to the incident, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Aurora Police Investigators at 630-256-5500 or Aurora Area Crime Stoppers at 630-892-1000. Callers to Crime Stoppers are anonymous and qualify for a cash reward of up to $5000 for information that leads to an arrest in the case.
