Yorkville Pre-Schoolers Hurt In School Bus Crash

Kendall County Sheriff's Deputies say school bus left roadway and hit some trees. Children and bus employee treated for minor injuries.

Three preschoolers and an adult were injured in a school bus crash near unincorporated Plano on Thursday afternoon.

Kendall County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to the scene of a single-vehicle crash involving a Septran school bus around 12:19 p.m.

Deputies said the school bus was carrying two adults and three students ages 3 through 5. The children were coming from afternoon pre-school at Yorkville Grade School.

The school bus was traveling westbound on River Road, heading toward Blackhawk Springs Road when it left the roadway.

Deputies said the school bus hit a few trees before coming to a stop.

The adult and three children were taken to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries to Rush-Copley Medical Center in Yorkville where they were treated and released.

According to a statement on the Yorkville Dist. 115 website, the adults were employees of Septran Inc. bus company.

The district enacted its emergency response plan and notified the parents of the students involved in the accident.

School and district administrators traveled to the accident site to support emergency services, assisting Kendall County Sheriff’s deputies, the Little Rock-Fox Fire Department, Septran Bus Company and emergency responders at the scene.

“District officials are in contact with the families of those individuals involved, and remain focused on the safety and well-being of our students and Septran employees involved in the incident,” school officials said in a written statement.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
