A long standing tradition in the fire service has been to support one another along with their families in a time of crisis.

The phrase from the movie “Backdraft” — “you go, we go” — rung true recently when Bristol-Kendall Firefighter/Paramedic Patrick Watson decided it was time to shave his head as a result of treatment from his recently diagnosed cancer.

When Watson arrived at the Sports Cuts in Yorkville both on-duty and off-duty firefighters were lined up to show their solidarity by shaving their heads too.

On Saturday, Feb. 28, members of the Bristol-Kendall fire department sporting the bald look also attended a fund raiser at Old Town Pub and Eatery in St. Charles to raise money to help off-set medical bills for Watson, fire officials said.
