2-day parish mission explores becoming face of God's mercy
The Pope has called on people to fashion their lives after the image of Jesus. Learn how to adapt this invitation into your daily living.
Come and reflect deeply on “The Face of the Mercy of God” during a dynamic two-day parish mission on Sunday and Monday, March 8 – 9, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 1500 Brookdale Road, Naperville. Mission talks are scheduled 7:15 – 9:00 p.m. Sunday, and 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. Monday. Monday’s session will be repeated from 7:30 – 9:00 p.m.
Guest presenter is Sister Dianne Bergant, CSA, distinguished professor emerita of biblical studies at Catholic Theological Union, Chicago, who also will speak during weekend Masses at St. Thomas at 4:30 p.m., Saturday, March 7; and at 8:00, 9:30 and 11:15 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., Sunday, March 7.
St. Thomas’ parish mission takes its name from “Misericordia Vultus” (The Face of the Mercy of God), a papal document issued in 2015. In that document, Pope Francis calls on people to fashion their lives after the image of Jesus, the face of divine mercy. In her presentations Sister Bergant will delve into the biblical background of Pope Francis’ thinking and insights with comments about ways to adapt the Pope’s message to daily living.
