2 Illinois Men Charged: Aggravated Armed Robbery

Police allege that one of them threatened a victim with a stun gun after taking their money in the erroneous sale of festival tickets.

NAPERVILLE, IL — Naperville police secured aggravated robbery charges against two Illinois men who are accused of committing armed robberies in Naperville on Aug. 2, according to a press release from the department.

Jeremy Mitchell, 21, of the 400 block of Valley Forge Court in Aurora, and Jaden Smith, 18, of the 100 block of Norwell Lane in Round Lake are each being charged. Aggravated armed robbery is a class 1 felony.

The Aug. 2 incident took place in a parking lot near the intersection of Jefferson Avenue and Route 59 around 3 p.m.

Police say that Mitchell drove a vehicle while Smith, who was a passenger, took $280 from a victim who thought they were purchasing festival tickets. When the victim attempted to reclaim their money, Smith threatened them with a stun gun, police allege.

Smith was taken into custody on Sept. 12 on an unrelated charge, and Mitchell was pick up on Aug. 30.
