NAPERVILLE, IL — Naperville police told Patch they arrested a 19-year-old in downtown Naperville on June 24 after he stashed a satchel containing a handgun equipped with a drum with 31 rounds of ammunition
Camilo Leon, 19, was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a large capacity ammunition feeding device, resisting or obstructing a police officer, criminal trespass to a building, and purchasing an alternative tobacco product while under the legal age.
Naperville Police Sergeant Ricky Krakow told Patch Leon was with a group of people at the top deck of the parking garage at 43 W. Van Buren around 10:17 p.m. when they were approached by officers who believed they were trespassing.
Krakow said Leon was wearing a satchel and smoking an e-cigarette when he admitted to officers that he was not the legal smoking age of 21. Leon is accused of fleeing officers on foot after they asked to search the satchel he was wearing.
Officers arrested Leon shortly after, but he did not have the satchel on him at the time of his arrest.
Poilce say they found Leon's satchel in a trash can and that the satchel contained a loaded 9mm Glock 26 Gen 4 Austria handgun and an extended magazine with 31 rounds.
Leon was taken to DuPage County Jail.
