📰 News we're reading

1. Naper Pride Will Not Take Place This September: Organizers (patch.com) — Naperville residents expecting Naper Pride this September should know the event has been canceled, despite outdated information still circulating online. Organizers say they decided back in October 2025 to skip the 2026 celebration so they could redirect funds and energy toward expanding service initiatives that better support the local community.

2. Naper Nostalgia: Naperville 9/11 Shanower Memorial (positivelynaperville.com) — Naperville's Commander Dan Shanower September 11 Memorial, part of the Century Walk collection, honors 9/11 with artifacts from the Pentagon, World Trade Center, and Pennsylvania crash site. Built with private donations and dedicated in 2003, it remains a powerful local place to reflect on national tragedy and the community's role in remembering it.

3. North boys soccer blanks Naperville Central (nctv17.org) — Naperville North's boys soccer team shut out crosstown rival Naperville Central 3-0, earning its first conference win of the season in a breezy evening matchup off Ogden Avenue. Strong goalkeeping and scores from Jake Hadaway, Will Boniface, and Dylan Healy sealed the victory, while Central now looks to regroup before facing Glenbard West on Friday.

4. Several factors driving Naperville District 203's revised bus transportation plan (nctv17.org) — Naperville District 203 has cut bus stops and routes this year, aiming to reduce cancellations and cope with a driver shortage while still serving more than 10,000 students. Officials say the streamlined system saves money and emissions, but some parents worry about longer rides and crowded buses, and argue better driver pay is needed to truly fix the problem.

5. Award-winning quartets to perform at Chorus of DuPage's fall show in Naperville (dailyherald.com) — Naperville music lovers can catch award-winning local Stiletto Quartet and international champion Vocal Spectrum at the Chorus of DuPage's "Melodies and Memories" show this Saturday at Grace United Methodist Church. The 3 p.m. concert will feature classic barbershop, pop favorites, and patriotic tunes, with tickets starting at $15 for teens and free admission for children under five.
