NAPERVILLE, IL — Operations have returned to normal after authorities responded Monday afternoon to a bomb threat at Naperville Central High School, according to officials.

The school received the threat regarding the exterior of the school by phone Monday afternoon, according to District 203 Director of Communications LeeAnn Betz. Naperville police responded to the school around 2 p.m., Linda LaCloche, communications director for the city manager's office, said in an email.

"Out of an abundance of caution, the school entered Hold in Place and Secure Building modes while the Naperville Police Department responded and investigated," Betz said in an email.

"Students and staff remained safely supervised inside the building throughout the response."

Police found no immediate threat and normal operations resumed, Betz said in the email, sent shortly after 5 p.m. Monday.

"We know situations like this can be unsettling for students, families and staff," Betz said in the email.

"We are grateful to the Naperville Police Department for its immediate response and partnership, and to our school community for its patience, cooperation and calm throughout the afternoon. The safety of our students and staff remains our highest priority."
