DuPage Children's Museum Volunteer Wins Viral Video Competition

DuPage Children's Museum volunteer Jamie Randell, age 15, won the Viral Video Competition at the Volapalooza event on May 10 at College of DuPage.  She took home first place for her video which encouraged others to get out in their community and volunteer.  The competition was launched by Giving DuPage with financial support from DeVry University.

Randell was awarded for her video entitled Super Volunteer which highlighted a few of her favorite places to volunteer, including DuPage Children's Museum.  “The Museum is a great place to volunteer,” said Jamie.  “There’s nothing better to do than doing something that helps children learn and grow up to a bright future.”

“We’re proud of Jamie for not only winning the award, but for showcasing just how important volunteers are to the Museum,” said Diane Ernst, volunteer program coordinator.  “We hope her work encourages more teens and adults to give back to their community.”

DCM’s volunteer program offers participants hands-on opportunities to assist staff throughout the Museum by greeting visitors, helping in the offices or resetting exhibits on the Museum floor.  Volunteers make a difference in children’s lives every day.  Opportunities are available for teens, adults and for corporate, religious or civic groups.

The DuPage Community Foundation, Giving DuPage and the Community Memorial Foundation partnered to create Volapalooza, an event recognizing the many ways that community members give back to so many organizations in DuPage County.
