WDSRA Rec & Roll Creates Peanuts Entry for Scarecrow Fest

Visitors to the St. Charles Scarecrow Fest are invited to view and vote for the WDSRA Rec & Roll contest entry. Participants from Glen Ellyn, Naperville, and Carol Stream worked together to create Lucy, Charlie Brown, and Linus. Their entry - "The Doctor Is In", C-12, is located at the corner of Fourth  and Cedar Streets. Creating a contest entry is a fall highlight for the Rec & Roll groups each year.

“Developing an entry is a valuable opportunity to be creative, practice teamwork, and give back to the community,” said Program Manager Dori Napolitano.     "Last year, we were pleased to bring home a fourth place award for our Wizard of Oz entry. This year, we hope to finish in the top three. The contest is a fun and uplifting event for our participants that teaches valuable life skills at the same time!”

Rec & Roll provides socialization, community integration and continued growth and training in life skills. One of the goals of Rec & Roll is to increase the participants’ involvement in the community. They go on weekly field trips and offer local agencies and businesses their assistance with service projects and volunteerism. While doing service projects, the participants gain a feeling of self-worth and accomplishment.
