Arts DuPage Month - Celebration Of The Arts In October

The month of October has been designated Arts DuPage Month, a 31-day celebration of the bountiful cultural arts world that exists in DuPage County. During the month, local arts organizations will be hosting events and offering special incentives for the public.

The month is planned and coordinated by Arts DuPage, a county-wide arts council launched by the DuPage Foundation to promote engagement and investment in the arts throughout DuPage County.

“DuPage County is a vast cultural landscape begging to be explored,” said Deborah L. Venezia, director of Arts DuPage. “Arts DuPage Month is designed to encourage the public to discover the local art scene and engage in its offerings. As an enticement, we’ve included special incentives for the events such as ‘buy one-get one free’ on tickets, special receptions, or meet the artists.”

All Arts DuPage Month events are listed on the comprehensive website - www.ArtsDuPage.org, which features year-round arts, cultural events, and activities as well as listings of performances, classes and workshops, fundraisers, organizations, venues, public art, and individual artists.

“ArtsDuPage.org is a great resource for anyone seeking arts and cultural experiences,” Venezia said. “Concerts, plays, exhibits, art festivals, and more are listed on the site in an easily searchable format.

The website features separate categories in theatre, music, dance, visual arts, museums, art festivals, literature, family fun, classes and free events. Sub-categories are listed. For example, under music, sub-categories are: classical / concert / opera; folk / world; gospel / sacred; jazz / blues; urban / pop / rock; and country.

“By providing the public with information about what to do and where to go for unique cultural experiences, we hope to inspire greater participation in the broad range of county-wide arts events and activities,” Venezia said.
