Police say a father and his 4-year-old child were sitting in the car when it was hijacked.

NAPERVILLE, IL — A 16-year-old Chicago boy has been arrested and faces felony charges for allegedly using a gun to carjack a vehicle while a father and his four-year-old child sat inside it in March 2018. Police say the armed carjacking took place on March 12 in the 2100 block of Allegre Circle.
According to police, the teen and another suspect approached the car around 8 p.m., displayed a handgun and demanded the victim's cellphone and the keys to his 2016 Nissan Rogue. Police say the victim complied and got out of the vehicle safely with his toddler.
The stolen Nissan was later found and recovered in Chicago. Police apprehended the teen, whom they identified as the alleged armed suspect, on August 9 for unrelated charges.
