Centennial Beach opens May 26; Paddleboats open weekends May 12

Beach memberships on sale now at preseason rates

The Naperville Park District’s Paddleboat Quarry will open Saturday, May 12, weather permitting, with weekend hours through the month of May and daily summer hours beginning Monday, May 28.

Paddleboats and kayaks may be rented at the Paddleboat Quarry hut located next to the paddleboat dock. Paddleboats are $10 for a 20-minute ride for up to 4 people and $12 for a 40-minute ride for up to 4 people. Kayaks are available through Naperville Kayak for 30-minute rides at $10 for a one-person boat and $20 for a two-person boat. Rentals are available from 10:00 a.m. until one hour before dusk.

Centennial Beach opens for the season at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 26. Located in downtown Naperville, this unique, historic facility features a sandy beach, zero depth entry, water features and a slide at the shallow end and piers, diving boards and deep water swimming at the deep end.

Centennial Beach memberships are now on sale at preseason rates through May 25, with a variety of memberships from which to choose, including adult, youth, senior and family. Twilight memberships are valid only on weekday evenings and on weekends and a Plus Friends option allows an individual or family to bring two guests on any given day. Plus Friends memberships are available for purchase only through May 25. Memberships may be purchased online at www.napervilleparks.org or at a Naperville Park District facility.

New this year, the Beach will open to the public at 11:30 a.m. on weekdays. Memberships will include early entry at 11:00 a.m. on weekday mornings. Weekend opening time will be 11:00 a.m. for both members and nonmembers. Other benefits of Beach membership include a 10% discount at Centennial Grill, coupons for Park District amenities, and two guest passes.

Centennial Beach will host four Special Needs Nights on Sunday evenings from 6:30-8:00 p.m. on June 24 and on July 1, 15 and 29. These evenings provide a quiet, relaxing atmosphere for families with special needs; no registration is required.

In addition to both youth and adult swim lessons, summer programs at Centennial Beach include Mudrats Swim Team, Triathlon Open Water Training and Beachside Yoga. Back after a successful first season, Paddle Board Yoga will be offered this summer on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 7:45-8:45 a.m. Registration can be completed online for any of the programs at www.centennialbeach.org.

For the second year, Tuk Tuk will be available for paid rides from Centennial Beach, with pick up location on Jackson Ave.
