The Naperville Police Department is pleased to announce that Jason Zbrozek has been appointed to the position of deputy chief. Zbrozek is a 23-year veteran of the Naperville Police Department who most recently served as a commander in the Investigations Division. He will lead the Investigations Division in his new role, with Deputy Chief Bob Lee assuming leadership of the Patrol Division.

Zbrozek began his career at the Naperville Police Department as a patrol officer in 1998. He has served as a special operations group detective, financial crimes investigator and Drug Enforcement Administration task force agent. He was promoted to the rank of sergeant in 2017, followed quickly by a promotion to the rank of commander in 2019. In his most recent assignment as major crimes commander, he supervised the Department’s Special Operations Group as well as the crimes against persons, financial crimes, property crimes, and crime scene evidence and property units.

“Deputy Chief Zbrozek’s well-rounded experience, decisiveness during critical incidents, and communication skills make him a tremendous asset to the Investigations Division, this department and this community,” said Police Chief Jason Arres. “He’s an experienced supervisor who leads by example, takes great pride in his job and exemplifies the City’s core values daily. I look forward to Deputy Chief Zbrozek’s continued leadership of the Investigations Division and contributions to our department’s administrative team.”

During his time with the Naperville Police Department, Zbrozek has been awarded many commendations and been part of many notable changes within the organization. He was the first staff member to become a Certified Financial Crimes Investigator through the International Association of Financial Crimes Investigators, oversaw the budgeting and implementation of a new interview system at the department, and created an internal training program for new detectives.

“I’m very grateful for this opportunity and excited to build upon my past experiences to take on this new role within the organization,” said Zbrozek. “As the dynamics of our department continue to change, one of my main areas of focus will be on training, career development and succession planning to ensure we can maintain not only the high level of performance currently achieved by the Investigations Division but also our strong community and school partnerships and crime prevention efforts.”

Zbrozek holds is a graduate of Northwestern University’s School of Police Staff and Command and has been accepted to attend the FBI-LEEDA Executive Leadership Institute in 2022 and the FBI National Academy in 2023.
