Connelly and Wehrli to host Children's Safety Expo Aug. 22

SPRINGFIELD, IL – State Sen. Michael Connelly (R-Wheaton) and State Rep. Grant Wehrli (R-Naperville) are hosting a Children’s Safety Expo at the Frontier Sports Complex on August 22 from 9:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M.

The free event is open to all area families and is geared toward a younger audience. Children will be able to participate in several “kid-friendly” events including “Touch a Truck,” the “Traveling World of Reptiles” show at 10:30 A.M. and multiple area first-responder displays. A face painting booth will also be available. Frontier Sports Complex is located at 3380 Cedar Glade Drive in Naperville.

Informational booths at this year’s expo include: Naperville C.E.R.T, Faces4, and several state and local law enforcement agencies. Also, the LIFESTAR Chicago medical helicopter will be there from 9:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M.

More than 40 “Touch-a-Truck” vehicles will be at the Safety Expo, and kids are invited to see, touch and get behind the wheel of their favorite vehicles. Local professionals will be available to answer questions about the equipment and the work they do.

Expo participants include ComEd, CPR, Naperville Police Department, DuPage Children’s Museum, DuPage County Circuit Court Clerk, DuPage County Crime Stoppers, DuPage County Health Department, DuPage County Highway Department, DuPage County Office of Homeland Security, DuPage County Regional Office of Education, DuPage County Sheriff’s Office, DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office, Edward Jones, Elite Sports Complex, Hruska Insurance, Illinois Department of Transportation, Illinois Life Span, Illinois Secretary of State Police, Juice Plus, Lifestar Chicago, Office of the Illinois Attorney General, Office of the Illinois Comptroller, Office of the Illinois Treasurer, Office of the Illinois Secretary of State, PACE, Sparkles Entertainment, Traveling World of Reptiles, and several other area agencies.
