'Cooking-Related' Fire Destroys Naperville Apartment Home

No one was injured in the blaze, which started in the home's oven.

NAPERVILLE, IL -- Officials say a fire that destroyed an apartment home in Naperville Sunday afternoon was likely "cooking-related." The fire started in an oven in a multi-unit building in the 1300 block of Modaff Road, according to a news release from Naperville Fire Department Division Chief Amy Scheller.

Fire crews got to the scene at approximately 3:13 p.m. and made sure all occupants were outside of the home safely. The fire was located in the home's kitchen and extinguished within 10 minutes, Scheller said.

The affected apartment was deemed uninhabitable and its two residents were helped with temporary accommodations by the American Red Cross.
