District 204 Shares Safety Message In Wake Of Deadly Texas Shooting

District 204 shared a message about its safety and support measures in the wake of the Texas school shooting that killed 21 people.

NAPERVILLE, IL — Indian Prairie School District 204 shared a heartfelt message with parents about school safety in the wake of the elementary shooting that killed 19 children and two teachers in Uvalde, Texas, Tuesday.

Superintendent Dr. Adrian Talley wrote, "As I write this letter, my heart is heavy for the families that have been affected by the school shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. A tragedy that has ended the lives of innocent children and teachers. An indelible event that has impacted the lives in that town and has in many ways impacted our lives hundreds of miles away."

He continued, "I share with you your concern, your grief, and your desire for our children to be safe."

Talley went on to outline some school safety measures in place throughout District 204, including visitor screening, tips lines, safety drills, locked exits, school resource officers and other safety protocols.

Talley wrote that District 204 plans to continuously review its safety procedures. He added, "We stay committed to our responsibility of protecting our children and our staff."
