District 204 Superintendent Announces Retirement Plans
Sullivan says she plans to retire when her contact comes to a close.

NAPERVILLE, IL — Indian Prairie School District 204 Superintendent Karen Sullivan told board members Monday night that she plans to retire at the end of the 2019-2020 school year when her contract ends. Sullivan, who has worked in Indian Prairie Schools for more than 20 years, said in a letter to district members that "it has been an honor and a privilege to lead [District 204] for the past 5 years."
Sullivan also took a moment to recognize the "outstanding work done by our staff each day to support our students." She reflected on the strides the district has made to implement social-emotional learning and to advocate for "fair and equitable school funding" with state officials.
Before being appointed as superintendent, Sullivan served as principal of Prairie Children Preschool and Cowlishaw Elementary School. She also worked as Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources for the district.

Neither Sullivan nor District 204 officials mentioned when or how the school board plans to seek a replacement for Sullivan once she retires. She closed her letter by saying she looks anticipates "continuing the momentum [with students and staff] through next year."
