Dog-Friendly Lazy Dog Restaurant Sets Sights On Naperville

The restaurant would include an outdoor area where patrons can dine with their pups.

NAPERVILLE, IL --- A dog-friendly restaurant is hoping to occupy a now-vacant mattress store's space in Naperville. Lazy Dog Restaurant and Bar is looking to tear down the American Mattress building at Route 59 and Aurora Avenue and open a more than 10,000 square foot dining room with outdoor seating, Chicago Tribune reports.

The address, 436 S. Route 59, currently permits buildings of 5,000 square feet or fewer, so city council must first approve the building size before developers can move forward with the Lazy Dog Restaurant project.

Lazy Dog currently has most of its locations in California, where the company was founded. A Naperville store would be the second for Illinois, after a Vernon Hills Lazy Dog Restaurant opened in early January.

The menu at Lazy Dog Restaurant and Bar focuses on inventive casual eats, including peanut butter and jelly burgers, bone-in pork chops marinated for 24 hours in apple-sage seasoning, and barbecue bison meat loaf. The outdoor dining areas accommodate patrons and their four-legged pals, who can select items from their own menu of chicken, beef, and rice.
