NAPERVILLE, IL — Downtown Naperville was the scene of looting and damage to stores Monday night as unrest broke out in the wake of George Floyd's death. Naperville police said riots began around 9 p.m., with looters using two by four wood to break store windows.

Police say bottles and bricks were thrown at police and at stores. Police officers were hurt by explosive devices and one person suffered a stab wound at the hands of a rioter while attempting to help police, Naperville Police Chief Robert Marshall said during a press conference. That person has been hospitalized and is in serious condition, Marshall said.

According to Marshall, at least 30 stores in downtown Naperville were vandalized, along with at least five stores outside of the downtown area. Marshall added that Shoot Point Blank, a gun store at 560 Frontenac Rd. was looted and 10 firearms were taken. Marshall said four people were arrested in connection with that incident.
