'Drop The Gun:' Naperville Cops Release Dashcam Video Of Shooting
The video appears to show the suspect approaching police with a gun before shots are fired.

NAPERVILLE, IL -- "I can't live no more," you can hear a man say in recent dashcam footage released of a police-involved shooting in Naperville. "Yes, you can," an officer replies. "Everything is fine...Things can always get better." Moments later, gunshots can be heard.
Naperville police released the video of the Jan. 23 shooting Thursday.
The first part of the video has audio and dashcam footage showing the suspect kneeling in front of an SUV outside of a Mexican restaurant in the 1200 block of Ogden Avenue. The second part of the video, filmed from another police car, shows the man with a gun to his head, kneeling on the ground.

The man, 27, was hit by gunfire and taken to a local hospital, where he was in serious but stable condition after the shooting. He was released from the hospital on Feb. 1 and is currently being held in DuPage County Jail on $100,000 bond.
"I believe it is important to be transparent with you, our community, and show the chain of events that led to our officer's use of force in this instance," Naperville Police Chief Bob Marshall said. "I am extremely proud of our police officers' response to one of the most stressful situations they will ever encounter."

As the investigation into the police-involved shooting is ongoing, Marshall said the police department is limited on what info they can currently disclose.
