DuPage Symphony Orchestra's "Reflections of the Rus" Concert

Naperville, IL – The DuPage Symphony Orchestra (DSO) promises to deliver an unforgettable performance with "Reflections of the Rus" on Sunday, February 11, 2024, at 3:00 PM at the prestigious Wentz Concert Hall in Naperville. This performance will feature the exceptional artistry of flutist Adam Sadberry, a nominee for the Wall Street Journal's coveted "23 for ‘23 Artists to Watch" list and rising star of the classical music world.

A rare and sublime program featuring Eastern European composers awaits: Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 3 "The Polish," a seldom heard jewel of the classical repertoire, plus Khachaturian's fiery Flute Concerto, a thrilling work originally composed for violin. These high-energy masterpieces feature adventurous harmonies and brilliant melodies, including traditional Polish and Armenian tunes for a culturally significant synthesis of folk and classical music.

The Wentz Lobby will come alive with the enchanting melodies of the West Suburban Flute Orchestra, who will captivate audiences before the concert and during intermission with the unique sounds of an all-flutes ensemble. For a tactile experience for guests of all ages, Windy City Flutes will present a Musical Instrument Petting Zoo, providing a hands-on encounter with a wide array of finely crafted flutes.

Reflecting the DSO's ongoing commitment to education and community engagement, a free Open Rehearsal is scheduled on Friday, February 9, from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM at Wentz. Guests will have the opportunity to witness the award-winning DSO in action under the guidance of Maestra Barbara Schubert. The rehearsal will include a Q&A session with flutist Adam Sadberry, plus a “Flutes of All Sizes” demonstration and Petting Zoo. Complimentary desserts by My Chef Catering will add a sweet note to this open-to-all event.
