Grace Imathiu was born and raised in the country of Kenya and grew up in a Methodist minister’s household. Her father is a retired Bishop of the Methodist Church in Kenya who was the recipient of the 2005 World Methodist Council Peace Award for confronting Idi Amin’s regime as well as for taking a stand against South Africa’s apartheid system. Her mother, a retired teacher is a Local Preacher and has served in many leadership roles in the church.
Grace was educated in Kenya, USA (Methodist Theological School in Ohio and Vanderbilt University in Tennessee), the University of Cambridge and spent a year at the Hebrew University at Mt. Scopus in Jerusalem.

Grace was ordained in 1988 in the Methodist Church in Kenya where she served for two years at the small and rural Nkubu Methodist Church and for four years as Senior Pastor of Lavington Church in Nairobi, an ecumenical congregation that is sponsored by Methodists, Anglicans and Presbyterians. She has also been on staff in churches in Richland, Washington; Delaware, Ohio; and Nashville, Tennessee. Grace has been a Bible teacher and has preached all over the world and is the author of two books.
