Expect Delays: Washington Street Road Work To Begin This Month
The project will run from Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., for approximately four months and is expected to optimize traffic flow.

NAPERVILLE, IL -- Work is beginning this month along portions of Washington Street to allow installation of new adaptive traffic signal control equipment. Weather depending, work will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. from Monday to Friday. Traffic will be restricted to one lane in each direction.
The project is phase two of the City's Centralized Traffic Management System project, which has the goal of optimizing traffic flow, especially during special events and other variable periods, according to a press release.
The work is expected to take approximately four months. Town officials urge motorists to use caution and allow for additional time when driving in the area.

Officials say that the completion of phase one in January 2016 created more consistent synchronization for traffic signals along Washington Street. The system also automatically sent notifications to the town when signals malfunctioned.
