Watch Firefighters Save Man Trapped Underwater In Naperville

Firefighters went into the water and were able to pull the victim to the surface.

NAPERVILLE, IL — A man was rescued from his vehicle as it was submerged in water in Naperville Friday. Fire officials said several residents reported the incident in the 400 block of Winding River Drive at around 12:18 p.m.

Fire Division Chief Amy Scheller said emergency crews were notified that a man was attempting to get out of the submerging car while they were en route. Once firefighters arrived on the scene, they got into the water and used "aggressive static rescue techniques" to pull the driver up to the surface.

Rescue divers then combed the waters and confirmed that there had been no one else in the car.
